Ich glaube an einen Aprilscherz!! Es kann ja wohl nicht wahr sein. Gerade wollte ich das so hilfreiche TWA wegen eines Hundes durchsuchen, was ich wirklich oft tue und dann sehe ich diese Meldung:
Due to repeated personal attacks concerning copyright and other issues, I’m sorry to say that I don’t feel I am in the position of running the Whippet Archives website any longer.
I would like to thank all of the whippet friends who supported me with this project over the past few years. Needless to say that, I’m aware how disappointed some of you will be. You will have to thank mainly some British whippet breeders for my decision who persistently schemed against TWA.
I most likely won’t be able to respond to emails on this issue due to time constraints.
Es ist wieder mal wie immer. Da gibt es Leute, die sich ernsthaft für eine wirklich gute Sache engagieren und eine phantastische Datenbank aufbauen, wahnsinnig viel Zeit und Kosten investieren, Menschen die fleißig mithelfen all die fehlenden Hunde nachzutragen und dann “gibt es persönliche Attacken gegen den Betreiber” solange, bis dieser völlig genervt aufgeben muss.
Shame on You all you f… british breeders! Es wird NIEMALS etwas geben, das im Sinne der Hunderasse und Hundezucht positiv genutzt werden kann, weil es IMMER wieder irgendwelche A…gibt, die alles zerstören müssen.
Es tut mir so leid für alle, die so fleißig am TWA gearbeitet haben und für alle Züchter, die es genutzt haben. Wieso kann man nicht mal über Korinthenkackerei hinwegsehen (Copyright) wenn es ALLEN nützt? Ich werde das nie begreifen, welche Kleinkariertheit in den Köpfen existiert.

es ist der 1. april…. wenn das da morgen noch steht, dann bin ich traurig, aber vorher nicht.

Ein absoluter Schocker! Dabei geht der Aufschrei derzeit auch quer durch England und da sind auch einige Stimmen, die gerne Kontakt zu Frau Schellner hätten, weil sie die Seite weiterführen möchten. Ich hoffe, dass das nicht nur schnell dahingesagt ist.
Ich habe die Archives schon in den zarten Anfängen kennen gelernt und mir so manche Nacht dabei um die Ohren geschlagen, die Daten von mehr als 2000 meist historischen Whippets einzufügen.
Daß es Ärger mit einigen britischen Züchtern gibt, bemerkte ich als dortiges Forenmitglied auch sehr schnell.
Es ist doch interessant zu sehen, wie geradezu paranoid da die als Pets aussortierten Whippets der Öffentlichkeit vorenthalten werden. Meinem Eindruck nach war das DER Grund, sich dann auch zusätzlich an vielerlei Kleinigkeiten zu stören.
Dass nun ausgerechnet aus England Unterstützung kommen soll, macht mich skeptisch. Es wirkt auf mich so, als wolle da jemand das Ding selbst um jeden Preis kontrollieren. Dafür zahlen will man natürlich auch. Vielleicht irre ich mich ja, was das angeht, aber Vorsicht halte ich auf alle Fälle für angebracht.

As an avid whippet pedigree researcher (with close to 34,000 pedigrees on my own program of whippets worldwide) I
am appalled that the Whippet Archives has been brought down by people who don’t seem to understand how useful a resource is has been for those of us seriously interested in understanding the devleopment and dispersal of the breed world wide since Zuber. Nit-picking and harping on mostly small errors that were easily correctible has its place but not at the price of destroying an absolutely first class internationally accessible breed pedigree resource.
Breeders could correct incorrect information easily on the Archives, most of which was honest mistakes in their contributions by fair minded people inputting publicly available information from show catalogues or published breed registries.
A few submission points led to questions of potential abuse: weight and height, photos, and notes. But the way to deal with incorrect information was to go privately, nicely to the list owner and state concerns, not pepper her with a pile of nasty emails as seemed to come from a relatively small number of short-sighted harpies who had little clue about how the resource operated and how it could be corrected and made to work well, and who could not see the overall value of this very valuable resource, past the fact the name of one of their dogs was spelled incorrectly or a photo was used that might not be the one they would have submitted if they bothered to even participate in sharing information on the Archive.
I am ashamed that it was the English — the source of the whippet — who killed this world wide resource that brought us all together. I am so disgusted we have lost the Whippet Archives and just hope, hope, hope, those of us who knew and appreciated it for what it was, can persuade Karin to bring it back on line. This is a travesty since the problem areas are so easily addressable.
So help me folks, to paraphrase the song — “sometimes you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone….”

By the way, I don’t think paid membership is the way to go. That does nothing to correct the few problem areas. What Karin needs to do is to take on as willing volunteers a handful of moderators to whom those accessing the site can write if they have a problem with something entered on the Forum. Those having problems with entries that get changed would be able to click on a link on the site front page that would navigate their complaint to an arbitator for resolution. I for one would volunteer to be one of those advocates and I know other fair minded people with backgrounds in the law, who I am positive would be prepared to do so as well.
It is time to get the Whippet Archives back up and running.

Das darf doch nicht wahr sein! Gerade fuer einen “Whippet-Anfaenger” war dieses Archiv aeusserst interessant. Stundenlang habe ich meist am Sonntagmorgen, wenn meine “Buschleitung” etwas schneller ist als wochentags, in den Pedigrees gestoebert. Das soll nun vorbei sein - ich kann es einfach nicht glauben! Gerade letzte Woche habe ich noch meine Dreamy (Silkrock Dream of my Life) eingetragen.
Nachdem ich nun selbst ins site geschaut habe, meine ich dass es sich um einen 1. April-Scherz handelt. Hoffentlich!!!!
I apologise for writing in English !! I was very sorry to see that TWA have been removed - many of us in the U.K. did appreciate having access to such a valuable resource. I would like to thank Karin for all her work , and hope that maybe she will reconsider her decision to close it.

Don’t think it’s a 1st April joke. - Denke nicht dass es ein Aprilscherz ist, dafür ist die Sache zu ernst für einen Joke.

I am so very sorry that Karin has felt compelled to take the decision to close TWA and I hope that in due course she will feel able to reconsider her decision and once more let her fabulous database be seen by the world.
Es kann der Frömmste nicht in Frieden leben, wenn´s dem bösen Nachbarn nicht gefällt!
Lässt sich auch hierauf münzen. Schade eigentlich! Schade, dass es immer wieder solche Klopse gibt, die alles kaputtmachen. Na ja, es geht ja schon im Sandkasten los. Da wird in fremde Sandgebilde getrampelt usw. Manche Menschen werden eben nie erwachsen.

The Whippet Archives is so important to me, I would like to thank Karin for all the hard work, having the idea and allowing this fantastic resource to be used by whippet lovers worldwide, from pets owners to show breeders to racers and coursers it is such a valuable asset for the future. I am so sad that the actions of a few may mean such a loss to all. Please Karin re-consider jan
Liebe Frau Schellner und alle vernünftigen Whippetfreunde weltweit,
wir fänden es schade, Ihnen allen für dieses großartige Werk einfach nur zu danken, sondern hoffen aus tiefstem Herzen, dass sich für die leider nun entstandene Situation eine vernünftige, für alle beteiligten, akzeptable Lösung findet.
TWA muss künftig wieder online gehen, hier kann es sich nicht nur
um Stolz oder Sturheit drehen, sondern der einmalige, weltweite Nutzen dieser Einrichtung für Züchter, Besitzer oder einfach auch “nur”Whippetinteressierte muss im Vordergrund stehen.
Lasst uns nicht aufgeben.
It is a tragic loss of a very valuable, and unique resource for the Whippet Breed.
TWA is an open source data base, held together by the wonderful work of a super, self-less lady. I know that I can speak for many Whippeteers worldwide by saying, PLEASE,PLEASE, Karin, reconsider the closure of TWA, we need you both back.
Further, I really do not know how a single person can be held responsible for the actions of of the people who changed data in TWA. It is up to Breeders and Affix owners to maintain their entries…so easy with just a few clicks.
As Lanny says ” you don’t know what you have got ’till it’s gone”. How true!
Thank you Karin, for your hard work over the years, please consider bringing back the Archives, my personal records on the data-base go back over 40 years.
